broken toe loss of feeling?

first off I know there is nothing doctors can really do for a broken toe. i broke mine about 3 weeks ago. (hope the story is quick enough to not bore anyone) So to elaborate a little me and my husband was pulling off a like a 3 tier tool box (snap on box?). Any man knows these things weight serious amounts lol (plum full of tools) well, hubby thought that we might be able to handle the weight together. so we edged the tool box out to the tip of the trucks gate, and went to carry it down. It was so heavy I just completely dropped it. Well, stupid me. i try to catch it coming down and it came down on top my foot. I took off my shoe which was oozing blood, to find my big toe had been smashed (right where the big joint is). my husband picked me up and carried me into the house, as he cleaned it there was a cut as wide as the toe itself, and deep. I decided not to go to the er, So after icing it I did a butterfly on it. The toe has a very noticeable dent (the second area) where the toe actually bends. (never got an xray).
after about 1 day I had lost the feeling to the whole top area of the toe and still have not regain feeling. is it possible that I will regain feeling after the toe actually heals up completely? I'm just hoping its not perm. nerve damage. My toe still doesn't bend like my other one and have accepted it probably never will again.
I'm just thankful the whole outcome is i still have my toe! lol

No idea, but it was my first toe ever broke. I had ton's of people telling me there isn't anything a doctor could do. Besides wrap it to the toe next to it. I'll check into it thank you, Titchou.

The fact that you can't feel it is concerning. I would go have it checked - make sure blood supply is getting through - you could have done more than a simple break. Toes are actually kind of important!

Yes, they are very important - esp your big toe which balances you. And they can set the toe if it's a simple broken toe or dislocated, taping it because casts are difficult on toes but can be done in certain instances. Also, if it's crushed, you may need reconstructive surgery.
