Broken Dipstick Ford f150?

The dipstick to my fiance's truck broke off into the oil.

It's a 1996 Ford f150, 6 cylinder.

What's the best way to retrieve it?

In his truck can you just retrieve it from the oil pan?

I want something that doesn't require taking the engine apart if it's not necessary.

Also he said that there's a bolt that somehow connected or was closely related to both the engine and the oil that he has to reconnect...?

Can someone please help, tomorrow is the 4th of July and we have lots of plans.

And he didn't break the dipstick, it was someone else who I guess didn't know what they were doing.
 
The dip stick tube is held to the engine block by one bolt , remove the bolt, slide the tube up off the broken dip stick and then remove the broken dip stick. Replace the tube then reinstall the bolt and put in the new dip stick. you should be done in about 15 minuets .,
