My 48 year old father fractured his second lurabar vertebrae. He fell six feet and landed on his right but cheek and the result is a compression fracture of his second lurabar vertebrae. This happened a week ago, yesterday. He has been on bed rest ever since and my father is a very active man and would never let any illness or injury keep him down for long. He hasn't been able to go to the bathroom for the entire week (he could only urinate). He has had a fever yesterday, today was a severe migraine which last all day. He was having stomach pains on Sunday. He was prescribed oxycodine and 600 mg of ibuprofen.
He was giving a corset type brace when he was at the hospital (ER) but we were under the impression that he would be fitted for a proper brace.
I am just wondering if these side effects are normal because of the injury or the medication. Or if he should be improving some.
He has an appointment with a neuro-surgeon on Friday.
I appreciate any assistance!!
