Brokeback Mountain, just watching it now (yeah I know, it's been out ages) however, is Heath Ledger bad in this movie or what???
I can hardly understand a word he is saying!!!
Thats the only thing that has made it unenjoyable for me!
Anyone else agree?

Five minutes of their sub-James Dean mumbling was more than enough for me. Drivel. The sort of movie that American audiences like to kid themselves is art. See Crash, Babel, etc.

I think you'll find that the accent and tone was pretty accurate. That's how cowboys talk. It might be something to do with the baked bean diet, excessive exposure to the elements and too many cigarettes (nearly wrote f#g$).

I don't know the answer, I'm not a doctor.

I thought it was a pretty good love story either way.

I enjoyed it. Not too many films like it.

If you've not seen it, see it.

Brilliant film but the mumbling annoyed me too. What drove us mad though is that we could not decipher the very last line of the film - mumbled by Ledger (of course). What did he say?!

I read on another thread that he says "Jack,I swear"though it didn,t sound like that to me!I loved the film I thought the mumbling maybe went with the difficulty the character had in communicating and accepting his feelings.Still hard to understand though.

It's 'Jack, I swear.....'

He's excellent in the movie, if you've read the story it's based on he captures Ennis completely - maybe I didn't have the same problem as I've read the story and the dialogue sticks very closely to it.

I thought this was a beautiful film. Ok, it was quite controversial in some ways, and quite shocking in parts, but the story was so beautiful.

And I think their accents were really good, OK, you had to concentrate on what was being said to understand it completely, but I think that just added to the tension and atmosphere of the film as a whole; you were constantly on edge trying to hear them, which meant for me that shocks were even more of a shock as I was't thinking about what was coming next, but what was happening at each moment.

If its the one I've read about, not a lot extra, no directors/actor commentry, no deleted scenes (god damm it, I want to see the hippies scene :( ), nothing really worth laying out for if you already have the DVD.

It's interesting that his next role is The Joker in 'The Dark Knight' which is the sequel to Batman Begins. I just do NOT know how he can pull that off.
