ok so at about 10pm tonight i was sitting in my room with my curtains open when all of a sudden i saw a really bright intense flash of light in the corner of my eye but when i turned there was nothing there and no noise so i thought some one in the house behind me ws taking a picture with flash on
and then it happend again bright flash no noise so i decided to turn my light off and sit and wait to see if it would happen again
suprise suprise it did, 5 more times but not like lightning it was almost like a circle of light with a really bright point in the middle which im guessing was the origin of the flash
so im confused and abit worried as ive never seen anything like this before and it was exactly like the flash from a camera but it was way up in the sky
any ideas as to what this could of been

a lot of different places will get large search lights for their grand openings and they can be seen rotating and flashing from miles away

Most likely what you were seeing was sheet lightning if it was bright and even. If there were clouds, it could be ordinary lighting diffused by the clouds. While there is ordinarily thunder heard with lighting, if it is far enough away, the sound is so delayed and subdued that you can't make it out in the background noise. Lightning in sheet form or at high altitude also has to deal with atmospheric conditions which can reflect sound - just like you can hear jet planes or heavy trucks much more clearly some nights than others conditions can prevent sound from reach you.
