I have Toro mowers with both engine types, the Honda engine is pretty freaking tough. Also have a Honda atv, and i've given that thing a serious workout and it's still kicking like it's new. I'd go with Honda.
i hate like hell to say it, but Hondas are excellent. Many generators, compressors, power trowels, etc. have Honda engines. I try to use American made products whenever possible, but they are very reliable. Hope this helps.
