Breathless: 3/5

The "look" of the film is just so amazingly cool (sunglasses, cigarettes etc) but I didnt find much happened in the film. The main character (Jean Paul Belmondo) is quite an asshole TBH. and not likeable. He orders his girlfriend about and is plain rude to her. :(
What does Jean Seberg see in him? She's cute, and for some reason looks - well, cool in sunglasses and a fedora hat, smoking :)
Not one I'd keep but pleased I saw it though.

I meant A Bout De Souffle, thats it :)
Now I think about it more, I quite liked the film but maybe I wasnt in the mood for it, maybe it was the "look" more than anything else.
I'd never seen it before.

It's not exactly an example of amazing film-making, it's an example of a particular style of film-making which developed in the late 1950s. Typically the directors were film critics who disliked French cinema's over-dependence on narrative and introduced new techniques, such as jump cuts, to undermine the audience's expectations of what a film should look like. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nouvelle_vague

Personally I prefer Truffaut. His films now seem more modern, or timeless if you like, than Godard's.
