I'm a college rower doing my swimming captain friend a favour by competing in a ladies 50m breaststroke race next month. I'm rowing-fit but have never raced before and would appreciate some very basic* advice regarding technique, starts and turning.
*I really DO mean basic - for example, do you tumbleturn at the wall? do you glide at the bottom or on the surface when you start, and how long for? what's the deal with lifting your head out to breathe - at this level is it more efficient to lift out all the way (as on TV) or not? etc.
Cheers.
