hello,
ive been on suboxone now for about 1 year and its really helped me personally. I do have a surgery coming up though and im really scared about it. Im getting surgery on my jaw and its suppose to be pretty painful. Now ive been taking 8mgs 3 x daily for pretty much the entire time ive been on it. I talked to my suboxone doctor and he has a pain management plan for me after surgery. He has told me to stop taking suboxone 3 days before my surgery and then after my surgery he would be perscribing me 4mg of dilauded pills every 4 hours as needed (which i dont know much about), now he tells me since ive been on so much sub for so long that this will be the only painkiller that will effectly work and one of the only painkillers that will allow me to actually feel it (since suboxone makes it almost impossible for you to feel other opiates). So I'm kinda worried since i am a former herion/oxy addict..I asked him if i could just stay on suboxone and maybe increase if the pain becomes too terrible but he said no because im on such a high does of subs that even if i did take more im already at that "ceiling affect" they talk about. It also sucks because i cannot take any anti inflammatorys. I would just like to know if this sounRAB like a normal course of action? or if anyone has any other suggestions on what i should do about the pain? I dont really want to take such a strong painkiller..=( especially because of my past). Or do you think the dilauded will even help? any of your thoughts would be appreciated. thanks!!
