branded VS unbranded?

Can someone explain why an unbranded phone is more desireable than a branded phone. If I buy and unbranded (and unlocked) phone do I just transfer my sim card and all is ready to go? Thanks!

An unbranded phone is more desirable because you don't have all the gay crap your provider puts on the phone. Unbranded means you get what the manufacturer puts on it, and nothing more.

Yes, assuming the phone is a GSM phone (obviously) you can just pop in the sim and it will work.

And also the phone has to be "UNLOCKED" first to be used with any GSM SIM CARD. (most phones now days are unlocked so you just got to be cautious before buying one and make sure its fully unlocked)

plz help , i am with cingular and i need a new phone . however they tell me unless i buy a 500.00 replacement phone from them i won't be able to get an " unlocked " phone to access the internet ... they say with my SIM card only phone and text features will work but not the web features on my " unlocked " phone ...is this true or bologna ???

plz help ....

I'm gonna be petty here and say that there is nothing "gay" about the stuff providers put on the phones. Look up the definition and try using the word properly.

Here are some examples:

1. I had a gay ol' time today
2. Jim Verraros was the first openly gay contestant on American Idol

It really isn't that hard
