I just got a '92 Chrysler Imperial today and noticed the brakes make a sort of notchy grindy sound every now and then, from my right drivers side brake, and my ABS light and brake light comes on, not all the time, just sometimes. I'm not sure how long they've been doing this. How long can I drive on this without messing up my rotor, and how much will it cost for me to get it fixed? I'm supposed to drive about 100 miles on the interstate tomorrow night, and come back that 100 miles on Tuesday. If I went easy on the brakes would they be okay, and not destroy my rotor?

rotors are about 20 to 40 apiece and brake pads are only like 20-30. you can do it yourself if you want to save money. if you take it to a brake place, you may pay up to 200 bucks for it. you can drive on it until the brakes feel spongy, like all the way to the floor. you can get there and back no problem. just stop a little sooner. what you are hearing is the detection pins on the pads rubbing the rotor. it lets you know to change them now! lol
