Brakes on my 2003 Honda Civic?

When I had my oil changed this past week they told me that I needed to have my brakes replaced soon. I know very little about cars so doing it myself is out of the question. What is the best place to have my brakes replaced while keeping in mind that I am on a budget?
 
Brakes pretty much any backyard mechanic can do. Try and talk to some people you know and get a good reliable person who can do it for you. They won't charge but maybe 20-40 dollars. Or look at craigslist.org and check in your city for any backyard mechanics looking for work.
