The pedal feels mushy. Sometimes it breaks well, but if I hold it down, it tends to sink farther towards the floor. If I pump it, it gets better temporarily. The brake fluid reservoir is full, but the fluid is blackish in color.
What is a good cheap fix for this? If I bleed it out and put in new fluid, is that likely to fix it? Or am I going to have to replace parts or take it into a shop? The vehicle is old and high miles so I don't want to poor a lot of money into it.
