brain zaps from tramadol?

Hello I took tramadol for about 3 months 2 50mg every 4-6 hours.
I cold turkeyed it knowing there was no problem with doing so, because my doctor didn't say anything (of course) and now I'm experiencing brain zaps.
Now I've been trying to ween myself off for weeks now (maybe 3-4 weeks) and I have been cutting them in half taking only 25mg once every other day or sometimes every 2 days... but they are still here and won't go away.

I would think for only taking 25mg the way i described above would at least get me somewhere especially after a few weeks or more.
How much longer is this going to last?

I have experienced this before getting off zoloft but it was nowhere near as bad as this... i know it's an SNRI but why did they have to use that as a pain medication? ... Just need some advice on maybe reducing them or getting them eliminated.

Thanks :D

Hi. The same thing happened to me when I quit taking..ok so many years ago I can't even remember what it's called but it was a medication to ease depression...I cold turkeyed it and got brain zaps, too. Really freaked me out at first. You say you have experienced this before, though. I would suggest just cold turkeying it all together because as you take smaller dosis, you are probably provoking the brain zaps more than if you would just stop alltogether? Just a thought. I don't think the brain zaps are dangerous...so they should go away once you are completely off the medication, but half on won't cut it...
