Army Girlfriend

so my boyfriend left for boot camp on oct. 1st. i understood he had to go through reception then training would begin. his mom posted on facebook that he called home saturday and said hello and that he would be army strong. im confused to why he could call in the first place. i thought he couldnt call home until three weeks went by. also i thought that when they could call it was to be on a saturday. he is at boot camp at fort benning. was it just a one time deal? or just to say he's ok. was his call time limited and thats why he couldnt call me too? or do you only get one call? someone please help! im new at this
