GREENLAND — Local lawyer John Lyons on Friday became the latest community member to be recognized by the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts of America for his service to the community.
Lyons, a Portsmouth native and former chairman of the N.H. State Board of Education, received the Good Scout Award during the 20th annual Portsmouth Good Scout Awards Luncheon held at the Portsmouth Country Club.
As a former Eagle Scout himself, Lyons said he has was honored to be included in a long list of past recipients. He said he remembers all of the things it meant to be a boy scout.
“Working hard has a value,” Lyons said before a packed crowd of friends and colleagues.
Past recipients of the Good Scout Award include Renee Riedel Plummer, vice president of marketing for Two International Group; Bob Lister, a former superintendent of Portsmouth schools and current assistant mayor; City Attorney Robert Sullivan and local lawyer Peter Loughlin.
