Boutonniere without a Jacket--Groom question...?

The groom will have tan suit on, with a nice blue boutonniere on the lapel but the groomsmen are not wearing jackets, just light blue oxford dress shirts (with pockets) and ties (wedding is on the beach).

Florist wants to create small white bouts for the groomsmen to wear on their pockets (same side as groom) and I'm ok with that...

Just wondering if you have ever seen this, or have pictures or links. I have googled, but nothing that gives me a good enough idea if this is what I want to do. Have you had any experiences with this or seen it in any weddings?

I think it might look a little odd, or misplaced. Instead of the bout why not a handkerchief.

I've never been to a wedding where the groomsmen didn't wear jackets, but I think it looks ok to pin a flower onto their shirt.

If your Groomsmen are not wearing jackets than they should not be wearing a boutonniere because even though the florist is trying to help you, that look is just going to look like flowers coming out of a pocket.
And how do I know? Because other Brides and Grooms have tried it, and it just doesn't work. Since it is a beach wedding won't don't you try a lei of mixed floral greens or small shells for the Groomsmen. For the few minutes that these men will be up front with the Groom, flowers are not necessary. Save your money.
