...falling apart bought 16th august.? store refusing exchange because i lost receipt but told me they have had lots back due to this fault. where do i stand
 
You could try to contaact bench customer services direct. or the head office of the shop you bought it from.
Generally if you sent it back to the manufacturer they would asses it and then deal with it as they feel necessary.
you are more likely to get a better response from the head office of the shop you bought it from, although they have a policy in place it is likely that they will try to help you as your product is faulty!
