Bothered by Blinking Lights, Ticking Clocks

Hi,

Maybe I'm just not good with the internet but I've been searching everywhere for this and I can't find out specifically what it is. I've come across everything from:

ocd
add/hd
anxiety
sensory integration dysfunction
sensory processing disorder
hyperacusis
asperger syndrome

Each one lists Blinking Lights and Ticking Clocks as a symptom yet none of them are specific enough.

The main problem I have is the repetitivness of the blinking/ticking. The repetition or rhythm. If anyone knows exactly what this is I would be extremely greatful.

Thanks!

I can't concentrate at all. It drives me mad. It must be something in my head but I'm unable to stand it.

If a clock is ticking in the room I must leave or remove it. If there is a light blinking I have to block it.

It's not just ticking, It could be a faucet dripping at regular intervals or a Caller ID light or Phone Charger blinking on and off that makes me agitated.

Vitamin deficiencies can cause a hypersensitivity to sounds and lights...how's your diet? Are you eating lots of fruits and vegetables?

I hate blinky/ticking things too. There's traintracks near my home and when I get stuck waiting for the (long) train to pass I can't look, it makes me feel sick. And certain types of striped wallpaper make me dizzy.

I have no idea what it's from, someone told me a while back that it's associated with temporal lobe epilepsy.

Thanks for all the replys. I think my diet is fine. I try to get as many fruits and vegetables as I can. It's the repetition that agitates me the most. Whether it's audible or visual. I think it might be something mental or something.

If i'm in school trying to pay attention in class but there's a ticking clock near me I can't focus on the lesson and I have an impossible time concentrating. The same will go for if a light is blinking on and off in the class room.

Light and sound hypersensitivity can be symptoms of a number of conditions...fibromyalgia comes to mind...and also lyme disease...but again, these are just a couple of conditions that can present with these symptoms.

Thanks for your reply!

I think it might be more mental than it is physical though.

It's not so much the actual sound or light but the repetition of them and my concentration. I'm tempted to ask under the OCD or ADHD or Anxiety sections but I'm not sure what it is specifically.

Hyperacusis lists ticking clocks as a symptom but that seems more physical.

Sensory Processing Disorder/Sensory Integration Dysfunction list some of the symptoms as well, but they list many other symptoms that I don't have.
