that odd or normal? We purchased it used from Carmax 3 weeks ago, and its under a 30 day warranty. I was just wondering if it could be a bigger problem (something possibly covered in my 30 day warranty) or if it was just normal for them to go out at the same time because maybe they were installed at the same time?

If it could be a bigger problem I'd like to let Carmax know so I can get it done before my 30 day warranty is over. (FYI - we also purchased the extended warranty, but I think the 30 day warranty covers more.)

Also, about a week ago we had some work done by Carmax, they replaced the transmission. They unplugged the battery... could that have caused something to happen?
 
Nothing abnormal about that. Just wear and tear. Both lamps were more than likely installed at the same time and nothing unusual for both going out at the same time. That's assuming that lamps were installed at he same time, when one goes out I usually make it a habit to replace both or all especially when they are difficult to get to as in the case of the instrument panel.
