discuss the processes? and chemical requirements for plants to uptake nutrients and other materials from the soil?
I'm helping a colleague who works in the permitting and licensing industry for environmental compliance, and we're both at a standstill in finding research on this subject. What we're after is anything that might help explain the why and how of plants acquiring Hg or Pb from the soil...but we need to focus on what allows plants to "grab" things from the soil.
I'm guessing some of this is to do with photosynthesis, but (as I'm sure you can tell by now) I'm no botanist, and don't really know where to start on finding the right research articles to dig into.
