I really want to join a branch of the military and was wondering how tough boot camp really is. I am not physically gifted at all being only 5-7, 150 pounds, not very strong, and i cant run long distances very well is it possible to succeed?

I want to serve my country but not necessarily on the battlefield. I am very smart 4.0 gpa is there any way to even avoid boot camp?

Thanks

They'll teach you. Always remember... no matter how much they yell and act like they hate you, they want you to succeed.

No theres no way to avoid bootcamp. I dont think you will like the military because whatever job you end up getting, sooner or later you WILL get deployed. If you are really smart use your mind to take a different road in life. You can do so many better things that joining the military. Not only that but you would most likely make more money. If youre worried about being deployed, dont join

I was 5ft 9 175 lbs when i went in an not very good at push ups but i made it you just have to tell your self you can do it and try your best.

And there is no battlefield as you are thinking of its kinda everywhere and if you join there is a pretty good chance that you will deploy.

Recruit training is very necessary.

But keep in mind it's not a fitness camp - the point is to teach you how to be a soldier in your respective service. For me, it was easy physically, but the work load and stress was an absolute hell at times.

Officer cadets/trainees don't have a boot camp per say, but their training is conducted over a much longer period of time and is intended to be more intense to reflect their future occupations as leaders of whole platoons.

Either way you go, you're still going to have to train hard and learn to work on a battlefield. Who knows? You might catch up fitness wise in training, though it'd be safer to work on it now and join later.

no matter what service you go in the military you are required to have 6weeks of boot camp. at the end of BTCMP when it is time to get out of training you are required to pass the the training for the army you had to be able to do 20chinups, 50pushups, 70situps, run 4miles in 45min, and so on.. the Rangers and MarineCorps are about the same i belive.

i suggest that you go to college if you havent already and go into the AFROTC and be a officer in the AirForce.

Your under the impression that only gladiators join the military..You seem to think that only the top athletes in the USA enlist into the military..

The military enlists all sorts of people..From tall to short to strong to weak to smart to not so smart..

Just figure out what you want to do in the military and choose your branch accordingly. Good luck.

Air Force is good. Consider the nuclear program in the Navy, as well. You seem suited for it, if you can stand enclosed places.

Unfortunately you have to go through some sort of training but I see you have brains and lots of them, but I would suggest the following positions

Medic
Contact
Piolit
Technician
Field doctor
Computer operater
Navigator

But there are many more and I think its great you want to serve our country! *Salutes You
