i'm interested in joining the military.

what are the differences between basic training and normal life? (other than waking up early and running) what is an average daily routine? i heard they only allow you 5 minutes a day in the bathroom, is that true? what are you allowed to/ should you bring? anything more expensive than a digital watch?

People are always gonna tell you stuff like that to make them sound hardcore. I enlisted last year and i got more than 5 minutes in the restrooms. The first 3 wks suck, cuz they do "shower-drills", where you literally have a minute to take a shower.

A day is waking up around 0430, going to PT til 0600. Change/shower, go to chow [which you have like 3 minutes to eat] then go train. Thats it! when you get back from training usually around 1700-1800, you usually have mail call, then you go to PLT meetings or do team building until around 1930-2000, then go to bay maintnance and then shower and lights out at 2030.

You should only bring basics, one-three civilian outfits, and personal hygeine things. No mouth-wash. Nothing you have "get pleasure from" [i.e- cards, books, gum, or anything like that]. you can have your cell phone, they will just lock it away until you earn the privilage to use it.

hope it helps

most of the stuff you get issued there but you do need to bring shaving cream, razor and clothes to last for like three days but that is after you graduate. ah just go to a recruiters office you dont have to join if you go there he will want you to join but get your questions answered first. Go with Air Force man way better life and standard of living they will help you alot more and you can make a career out of one of the jobs they have to offer. BMT is totally different you have to run work out and get yelled at everyday, be told what where when and how to do everything but it will be the best thing and worth it dude.
