I read online that I should connect the negative terminal to the engine block and not the negative terminal on the battery itself (they said to connect it to the engine block because the battery might explode). Usually I jump start my car by connecting the cables directly to the terminals and not on the engine block. Can anyone explain to me where the theory of the battery exploding came from? How likely is a battery going to explode if we do not connect it to the engine block? Should I boost my car now by connecting it to the engine block instead of the negative battery terminal?
