ok, i want to make several things very clear. if you came on this question because you saw the word voodoo, and want to yell at me about devil worship, or tell me that its not real, then go away. your answers will be thumbed down and ignored. if you cant be open minded about religious practices different than your own, then i have no time for you

i am not looking to practice voodoo, i just like to educate myself on various religious practices. i was looking through my bookshelf and realized that i have stuff on wiccan, bhuddism, hinduism, christianity, norse pagan stuff, celtic pagan stuff, and even shamanism. i have nothing on voodoo, so i decided its time to educate myself

i know this isnt really the best place to be looking for guidance, and i put it in the myth and folklore section to avoid more of the "devil worshiper!!!" type answers, but i am really hoping at least one of you can point me in the direction of some books that can teach me about voodoo
oh, and i do know that there is more than one type of voodoo, but im open to learning about all of them. general history is nice but if you know of something interesting about a particular branch of it (im particularly interested in the types practiced in New Orleans) then let me know
