Book title, can't think of it for the life of me?

im trying to remember the name of a book but i can't. All i remember about the book is its about a cynical wizard. He has a slight deformity on one side of his body, red hair. In the begining of the book his mother was raped and so he doesn't know his father, any help would be great i know its not a lot to go on
