Book of Blood

A UK horror movie based on a Clive Barker story that doesn't completely suck! Truly the age of miracles isn't yet over.
Paranormal researcher thinks she's found the real thing but it's not quite what she was expecting.
Based on two of Clive Barker's stories with decent performances, a few genuine shocks and just enough gore to keep everyone happy.
I can almost forgive him for Nightbreed.:)

Not sure if I want to see this, I loved the Books of Blood, one of the best compilation of short stories (horror or otherwise) ever written imo, but to date every film adaptation has been a disappointment, from the garbage of Rawhead Rex through the mediocre Quicksilver Highway and Midnight Meat Train to the not completely appalling Lord of Illusions, Candyman and The Tales of the Darkside episode of The Yattering and Jack.

There aren't many Barker adaptations worth seeing; those which start off promisingly always seem to crash and burn.
Even Hellraiser was ruined by trying to pass itself off as American.
Lord of Illusions is probably the best so far.
Judged in isolation as a movie rather than as a CB effort, BoB is pretty good (and Vinny Jones isn't in it).

Incidentally, I still think it's time Rawhead had another outing, preferably with a budget of more than

It really annoyed me in Hellraiser 2 that they continued to try and pretend it was set in America as they could easily have dropped that and it wouldn't have been as bad, and they dropped it in Hellraiser 3 anyway.

The rest was good, mind. And Candyman. Midnight Meat Train was mediocre.

I think the less said about Nightbreed the better really.

I thought Nightbreed was OK, the early Hellraiser are good and Candyman is one of my favourite horror films.

There was a year when Barker was involved in Hellraiser IV, Candyman II and some other film, and they were all awful.
