Bony ridge on the back of my head, what is it?

Hello all. I'm not sure exactly where to put this, so I figures that the "open to all health related topics" board would be the safest place. Anyways, here is what is going on. Recently I noticed that I have a bony ridge on the back of my head, near where my neck and skull meet. I don't really make a habit of feeling the back of my head so I don't know how long it has been there but I don't remember it being there before, or at least not being as pronounced as it is, though my mother thinks weight gain may have made it more pronounced (I don't really believe her myself). Does anyone here know what it might be? Is this some kind of weird cancer or bone growth, is it even something I should be worried about at all? I have a cold at the moment and my nymph nodes tend to go nuts whenever I have a cold, could the ridge really be lymph nodes? Thanks in advance to all who reply.
 
This ridge is also called anatolian bump. It is just how some people skulls are formed. If your from the eastern US Appalachia area of SWVA. Tn, North Carolina, or Kentucky there are decendants of people who have this charasteristic. Many believe it is a sign or symptom (?) of a group of people called Melungeons. They have unknown origins. They were in the Appalachian area reportedly when the first European settlers found the area. Others don't believe it is a characteristic of them. I am a decendant of them but do not have this. It has become a genealogy topic of great discussion.

Thanks for the replys. I thought it might just be the occipital ridge, but my mother who washed my hair for years when I was younger says that she never noticed it before. I don't know if it is a tumor (if it was I would have other issues, right?) or inflamed lymph nodes or something related to my weight (I am overweight), but I'm hoping it isn't serious.
