I was wondering how this would fare. I've heard differing opinions. I have taken it on the freeway and it seems great but I've heard they can overheat if they're going too fast too long. I really want to take this thing down to Colorado but don't want to stop every hour to wait for it to cool down. Is it safe to take? It is brand new and runs great. Thanks.

if it can't make the trip and over heats once! id be taking it back to where it was bought and raise hell.if the rebel actually had a flaw like that it would have been addressed already . they do a lot of heat tests on bikes such as leave it in a steel enclosures in the dead of summer heat with the bike just at idle for i think it was an hour then take it out ride it for awhile and repeat they called it a heat soak test.

the bike should make it. You behind on the other hand probably will not. Try making a couple of short 300 mile rides in one day first. If you can comfortable do it the bike should not have a problem.

That said..how much weight are you going to add for gear. It will only weigh that little bike down badly and climbing those hi grades at even higher altitudes will be even tougher.
