(CNN) -- Tests confirmed that the child's body found in a Southern California house fire was that of 8-year-old Ethan Anderson, whose sister is believed to have been abducted by fugitive James DiMaggio, authorities said late Friday.
As a manhunt for DiMaggio and 16-year-old Hannah Anderson continued in an Idaho wilderness area, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said DNA analysis of bone marrow confirmed the child's identity.
The bodies of Ethan and his mother were found inside DiMaggio's burned-out house in the San Diego area Monday.
DiMaggio was a close friend of the Anderson family.
