Bmx bike sprocket help?

No!!! as long as you are using a bmx chain then it should be compatible with your new sprocket. however if you are running a 28t sprocket a 9t driver should be used to keep a similar gear ratio.
 
if i am goin from a 33t to a 28t sprocket will i need to get a different chain? my current ratio is 33-12
