Bluetooth t3 question.

I have a question which may sound stupid. I am trying to access the internet with my T3 and laptop computer. I am able to beam files from one to the other but every time I try to access the internet the palm times out. My question is should the computer be on line when I try to connect or should the palm dial out? If it has to dial out how do I set it up?

I have a problem with that set up. It uses Windows Internet connection Sharing to bridge between the BT LAN and trhe outer world, in my case a LAN with ten PCs on it and a router. The LAN already uses the 192.168.0.xxx range.

ICS has to use (windows rule) 192.168.0.1 as the address for the bluetooth adapter (thus, the palm device will be using an address in the 192.168.0.xxx range.

You can't have the same address range on both sides of the PC, so I'd have to change all the settings of the LAN, router, and individual firewalls.

Would be nice if there was an alternative to ICS that would allow another range adress to be used for the BT LAN.

With a LAN already in place, please consider using a Bluetooth Access Point instead of a dongle. More expensive to buy, but much easier to setup and does not cause problems on the host PC as dongle drivers/software sometimes do. The access point plugs into your router (switch or hub) and provides direct access to all of the devices on your LAN including Internet/WAN if it's available, even if all of the PCs are turned off.

I have used the Belkin F8T030 with much success. Although the factory-direct price is on the high side, a search at eBay for "bluetooth access point" turns up several possibilities.

Need replacement screws for your T / T2 / T3?

Bluetooth access point - good idea, thanks. I looked around a little. Good idea to have the USB printer server included. And the Belkin AP is available in Europe also, in stock locally.

So while at LAN BT AP

When laptop is used standalone - ICS and 3G phone or wifi.
