Bluetooth Sync after the cable?

So my new smartphone can sync my stuff to the computer by USB cable, I got them to find each other by bluetooth, and I made sure to check the box "Allow connections to Bluetooth" but I can't get them to sync by bluetooth. The main "mobile center" screen says disconnected even tho other control panel settings show the phone is there. I have not had a lot of experience with bluetooth, but it appears to be allowable and on, how do I get mobile sync center to connect?

P.S. I'm still pissed when activesync disallowed wifi syncing after the first version.
