Bluetooth headphones paired to pc but no sound comes out?

Hi,
I recently purchased a bluetooth audio device to pair with my laptop. The laptop is an acer aspire and has an A2DP enabled bluetooth dongle plugged in.
I am using bluesoleil 6 software to connect the headphones because after a very long and frustrating process trying to get it to work with the windows software i found that bluesoleil is much better.
The software recognises the headphones and pairs with them, correctly showing them as a set of bluetooth headphones and correctly showing the services available.
I can then go into control panel and see that under the "playback devices" tab of "audio devices" the headphones are correctly set as the default playback device for the computer's sounds.
Everything seems to be working perfectly and even when i open a media player to play back music, the equaliser in the "playback devices" tab shows audio being transferred to the headphones and the equaliser bar going up and down showing music being played, but no audio actually comes out of the headphones!
This is incredibly frustrating seeing as everything is theoretically working perfectly!
Any help would be much appreciated.
