Tired of Listening

After hours of trying to figure out how to set up the bluetooth on my Acer TravelMate 6292 I realised I had to download a driver from the acer website. I did this and it is now installed on my computer.
I've been trying to get some pictures off my Samsung SGH-X540 onto my computer. I turned the bluetooth on my phone on...and proceeded to attempt to connect.
I right clicked on the new little bluetooth icon on the task bar...and it said "Bluetooth device not found". I tried pressing the physical bluetooth button on my laptop, and the little light still doesn't come on.
I then went into control panel and found the 'Bluetooth Configuration' icon...double clicked but again it told me "Bluetooth Device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on".
My phone is turned on - and the bluetooth is on...but my computer seems to be the problem.
Any advice?
