I have heard wheels through time has closed up and he is moving it to AZ, we went there last year the owner Dale was very cool, he showed us around and was starting up some of the old bikes for us.

Being from the Chicago area, every road out that way was a pleasure to ride.

Just got back from a 1600 mile trip to the Dragon. Didn't get on the BRP, but hit the Dragon and the Cherahala - what a beautiful ride. Didn't get on a road that I didn't like. Have fun, watch out for the bears on the Dragon!

+1 on grandfather mountain.

I good place to eat on your way is Freebornes. It is right off the parkway, going north at the second exit for route 18. http://www.freebornes.com/

Wheels Through Time is a must!

There are a lot of over looks. Really great ride.

Caution... there is some resurfacing in Virgina, past Fancy Gap. Also watch for the bridges when you get into NC... they are bumpy.

Give us a ride report when you get home... would like to hear all about it.

JUst before you get to Mt.Mitchell there is a rd..HWY 80 goes down to Marion i think...Take it down and back up....SWEEEET. Mt Pisgah Inn has great food...

If you can catch it with no fog rolling in. I went through Mt Mitchell in august one year, fog rolled in I got cold as crap with no leather with me.The museum in maggie valley did not move and it is awesome.
