blood testing before mri

there could be many possible reasons for this, depending upon if this is right after a possible work related injury that the employer want to find out if you were 'under the influence of something"(but that would have been normally immediately requested, and not way after?)? among other possibles. have you found out exactly what IS being tested(what are they calling this "blood test'?)? now THAT you DO have a right to know. they simply have to tell you what is requireing you to have to even have your blood tested, or urine too BEFORE it gets done since YOU would have to give YOUR permission, it simply requires what is called "informed consent"? informed consent is simply required to test anything on anyone before the test gets done? that IS a law. they simply HAVE TO tell you the reasons why, and what the specific name of the tests are too.

the other more medical possibility here is if this not actually an order made by your employer at all but the doc who ordered the scan in the first place? but ONLY if they are planning on using what is called a "contrasting agent" DURING the actual MRI? the contrast itself can just be very hard on a persons kidneys BUT ONLY when a persons kidney functions are impaired? otherwise the contrast will be simply filtered just fine thru our kidneys? the thing is, they HAVE to check at least your creatinine and potassium levels before any contrasted MRI just to make certain your kidneys are okay. i have an actual kidney disease and cannot actually have ANY contrast with any types of scans unless i drink a rather horrid med called mucomyst first that protects my kidneys. so that could be the main reason for the blood testing? i would think this scenerio would be the most likely, esp if the order for your MRI states 'with contrast' on it? its just most "employers" when looking to find out if an employee is using illegal drugs, that type of testing usually is done with a urine sample and NOT a blood draw, mostly becasue screening for drugs with blood is wayyy more expensive than a simple UA would be? so i am thinking this may simply be connected to the MRI itself and they want to also enhance the MRI pics by using the contrast since this is what contrast simply helps with when used in any scan, enhancement? it better highlights certain findings much more clearly.

but find out the exact name or names of the types of blood testing they are doing and i should be able to tell you what they are for. unfortunetly, i just have wayy too much experience with labs and blood draws. if it has anything to do with kidneys or simply 'creatinine" then they ARE doing this for YOUR kidney protection and would be standard protocal. i just do not undertand why ANY actual bloodwork requests would actually be coming from your employer here at all unless you actually work at a type of job where some possible contaminant or things your body would simply 'take in" becasue of the environment where you work has them in it?? they would be looking for certain 'levels" of something then.

exactly 'who' at your workplace told you you needed any blood testing? if this IS a workmans comp situation, if this was the human resource person, that person would be the one to ask about what the blood test actually is for? they simply HAVE to tell you that by law as i mentioned above? just find out the name of the testing or tests they are going to be performing on your blood, K? i can tell you exactly what they are for if you have the name. when is your MRI scheduled for?
