Blog Talkback: Toons of the 2000s: Top 5 Nicktoons

Great list! I personally would have have put Spongebob in the number one spot based on the universal appeal alone, but I understand his reasoning. :)

Also, Jimmy Neutron was a pretty clever show, even if I thought it was corny at times.
 
It’s good to see “El Tigre” receiving some love. I completely [strike]ignored[/strike] missed its initial run, but in watching the episodes on Nicktoons Network, it has grown on me immensely. The series never quite lived up to its potential, since the creators had to have Manny pick good over evil most of the time, but it was still a unique concept.

I would have loved to see “The Penguins Of Madagascar” make the full list as well, but I guess it’s just too new. It hasn’t even been out for a full year yet and it’s still in its first season. Still, it’s my #2, only behind “SpongeBob SquarePants”.
 
No mention of My Life As a Teenage Robot, not even in the honorable mentions section? For shame... But otherwise, nice list.

Pretty good list, I really need to watch El Tigre then. The only thing I'm not too wild about is FOP spot on the list, but that's more of a personal preference than anything else. But it was nice to see ZIM and Penguins get an honorable mention, especially with Penguins being so new.
 
This list is very surprising to me. I was not expecting to see El Tigre there. Also I was surprised my Jimmy Neutron. Its okay but it's definately not Top 5 material in my book.
 
I'd have given El Tigre the honorable mention and gave its spot to ZiM and switched Avatar and SB, but great list. Would've been nice to see Teenage Robot get a HM too.
 
Personally, I would have replaced El Tigre with Danny Phantom, and switched SpongeBob and Avatar’s spots. I enjoyed Avatar A LOT, but I think SpongeBob is a little more deserving of the #1 spot – seeing how it’s still #1 on all of TV for kids (and a hefty amount of adults, too) in its 10th year.

I think people get caught up thinking about OddParents post-Channel Chasers episodes they forget how everyone seemed to love the show before the movie. Why should the show get booted off the list because not everyone loves the more recent episodes? For several years, OddParents was a very close #2 to SpongeBob in ratings, and it really stayed that way until the “cancelation” in 2006. Plus, 2007’s OddBaby special was HUGE, getting more total views in one sitting than any SpongeBob special ever has.

I think Jimmy Neutron deserves that #4 spot. It is one of the only comedy-driven shows that really got better as the episodes went on. Plus, it must have been popular enough for Nickelodeon to go through with a spin-off (Planet Sheen).

While Penguins of Madagascar is VERY good, I think it’s best to leave that for a “Toons of the 2010s” list. Just like NO ONE would have put SpongeBob on a “Best of the 1990s” list, since there were so many other shows that lasted longer in the decade. I’m sure Penguins will extend into the 2010s far enough to reign in that decade like SpongeBob has in this (unless SpongeBob just continues to dominate in the next decade too!).

Seeing Avatar as #1 totally reminded me why I love this site. :D

Oh yeah, I wouldn't put Jimmy Neutron in the top 5, and I think an HM should replace.

And as other people said, it's too early in it's run to put Penguins in that spot...
