Blog Talkback: Toons of the 2000s: Top 5 Cartoon Network Originals

I probably would still put PPG in my Top 5 of the '00s if not for two reasons.

Season 5 and Season 6. Do people not remember how bad the post-movie seasons were compared to the pre-movie ones? And in this case, not even the spectacular 10th anniversary special back in January is nearly enough to make up for that. Officially, unlike many of the other Top 5ers, PPG did not have a final season of redemption.

Awsome list...but isn't secret saturdays a little to new to put on a top 5? non the less I think your picks were great! glad to see pretty much all my favs made it.!:anime:

I thought the blog deal with the top 5 toons on Cartoon Network, instead of the top 5 originals.

My 5 are these:

5. Secret Saturdays
4. Ben 10
3. Batman: The Brave and the Bold
2. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
1. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited

Honorable mentions: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002), Teen Titans, Duck Dodgers

I would've personally swapped Foster's and Samurai Jack. Foster's was fun, but Jack was epic.

I also would've included Flapjack over the Edds, but that's just me.

Megas XLR deservedly earned a place on this list. As long-time Transformers fan, it was only natural that I would also love Megas. I wish they'd bring it back, for Adult Swim, since by the show's content it seems skewed to their demographics anyway and would be a better fit.

That makes three of us then. I never could get into it, and I tried. But I didn't care for the garish animation style, and some of the characters and character voices were too annoying for me to tolerate either. But I don't begrudge others for enjoying it. I'm obviously in the minority on this one, and had no idea that my fellow TZ staffers liked it this much.

Well I'm glad the Ed's and Fosters and Secret Saturdays made the list, cuz I love those shows. However I do feel Dexter should have made it also, I mean the early seasons, not the later seasons, though I did like the finale cuz it was all animeish. The Powerpuff Girls also should have made it, they did a good job on the villains and the fights and the humor, characters. Every thing about that show was good. Another show that should have made the list was Ben 10 Alien Force. Course season three wasn't its best, it depends on how season three ends. Could end really good for all we know.

The earlier seasons of Dexter wouldn't count though. The once original season finale ("Last But Not Beast") aired in 1998, rendering that option moot from the list. The latter seasons came in the 2000s, but judging from an overall view, it's not as well loved, so that may also be a moot point as well.
