Le Royaume (The King and the Beaver) is yet another gorgeously animated short from Gobelins that will have you wondering exactly how in the hell any group of people could be allowed to be that talented. In the short, a king presents a beaver with an axe so that so that it might build his majesty with grand palace. When the king finds himself unimpressed with the results, he pushes the woodland critter to its breaking point.
The character designs are adorable and simple enough in structure for anyone interested to try drawing themselves. The animation is fluid. The shots are very well-framed. The plot is coherent and the punchline is genuinely humorous. I could easily watch this another ten times.
