Blackberry Storm 2 Battery Life...?

I had a Blackberry Storm (the first one) and the battery ran out quickly.
I took it to my phone carrier and they told there may be a problem with it or I have to many applications or does your phone stay lighting up when you put it in your bag or wherever you put it. Make sure you enable your backlight timer.
 
I just brought a new Blackberry Storm 2 yesterday, and I love it. The only thing is that the battery dies extremely quick! Yes, I use the internet a lot, but on my previous phone (Blackberry Pearl) I did not have that problem. I am concerned about the short battery life because when I did NOT use or touch my phone at all, the battery life went from 20% to 5% without activity. Any tips on have to preserve battery life besides reducing the amount of time I spend on the internet?
