I currently own a Blackberry 7100, and have decided to give up having email on my phone. Why, you ask? First, while it is useful for personal email, it's not imporant enough to me to justify the extra data costs. Second, my experience has been that excellent data devices make lousy phones (the BB being the prime example).
I'm leaning toward the Razr V3i. TMO is my carrier, and doesn't offer it yet, so I'll just have to get an unlocked phone online. I like that it has a decent camera, mp3 player and expandable memory (no need to buy a separate mp3 device for my rather modest portable music needs). Not to mention slim profile - I'm tired of carrying a brick-like PDA.
OK, here's the problem - I've become so accustomed to having a real data device that I take many features for granted. Hoping to replicate most of these on the V3i, or similarly capable non-PDA phone.
1. PIM - seems like V3i will sync with Outlook, provided I get MOT's software. Do contacts sync all the data in addition to phone numbers (email addresses, address, notes)? Does the calendar sync bring over alarms and notes? Is there a memo or todo list sync?
2. Web browsing - I suppose non-PDA phones have some rudimentary browsing abilities. Is the use of GPRS for data included in GSM carriers' voice plans? Or would I need to get a data plan? Is browsing on a non-PDA phone sufficient to check web-based email?
3. Password storage (electronic wallet). For PDAs, there's all manner of electronic wallet software to keep login info, credit card numbers, PINS, etc. How do non-PDA phone owners store this data? Can anyone reccomend electronic wallet software that might work on a Razr? Of course, it's important that this software sync with a PC - I have too much confidential data to make typing this into a phone feasible.
Any other slim, non-PDA, GSM phones that meet these data requirements (and have camera, mp3 player and expandable memory)?
