I have a used Verizon Blackberry Pearl given to me by a friend. The phone is not associated with any current phone number or account.
I have a monthly plan with Verizon, and I want to use the Blackberry. However, I don't want to pay a monthly data fee or use the service - I don't need the phone to be able to access internet/email/etc, I just need to use it as a phone.
Verizon tells me that if I use the Blackberry, the data plan - both the services provided and the monthly fee - is unavoidable. Is there a way to use the Blackberry just as a phone without the data plan?
Alternatively, if I sold the Verizon Blackberry and got a T-Mobile Blackberry - could I use a T-Mobile Blackberry as a phone only and without paying for a data plan?
