Blackberry Curve 8530 or Bold 9700?

I'm going to get a blackberry soon for personal use. The Curve is a better deal. Is there a huge noticeable difference between the two? Will The Curve become obsolete sooner? Will The Curve be able to do e-mail, BBM, texting and facebook effectively compared to the Bold? This will be my first blackberry, if you have either, you comments will be much appreciated.
