The light isn't for email or facebook. Notice how when you're turning on the phone, it's either green or red and then the rest of the time it's a different color. The light first registers with the wirless and network and keeps flashing to make sure it's still connected or in contact with everything. Other phones don't have this because Blackberries have A LOT of features and the light is just an easy reminder. There's no way you can get rid of the light, other than to have someone professionally take apart the phone and take out the light.
 
...email/or FB.? I like the LED notice when there is a message, but I hate that it continues blinking after I've checked it. What can I do to make it stop? So far the only thing that works is taking out the battery, which is really a pain.
