blackberry bold 9700 dead?

i have a att blackberry bold 9700 and when i try to charge it the light turns red for a couple seconds and turns off, the battery and charger is new, also when its plugged in the battery or charger doesnt really heat up like its charging. also the light isnt on when it charges. and it wont turn on. please help
