Blackberry 8520 inbox help? Not receiving SMS?

I can send messages and people can reply, but i wont see my sent messages nor my received messages in my inbox, even though the phone alerts me that i have a new sms and shows the little message sign with a number next to it...i just got it (curve 8520) and i dont know if i did something to make it like this, or its broken or something loool any help would be great ! thank you
