Well, I have a Nokia E50 (Silver Black, not Metal Black) and I love it. I think it's worth getting if you're happy with the feature set and think that it will be sufficient for you in the long term. It doesn't have Wi-Fi, it doesn't have a sweet camera, and it doesn't exactly have the fastest UI, but it has a small size, great screen, fairly good performance in most applications, and all the features that I need.

The things I DON'T like about this phone are that it doesn't have multiple alarms, the phonebook search is too good, the "phone" features aren't robust enough (slow access to phonebook, slow loading for new SMS, slow menus...and when I say slow, I mean slow in comparison to a 6230 or Samsungs T610's...but those menus aren't as fancy and the screens aren't as high-res).

Also, I don't really notice the earpiece getting hot, but the outer casing is metal on both versions, so I imagine that the metal black will have the same issue.

I hope this helps: (My basis of comparison is to N73 MIF)

I got mine a few days ago from a fellow HoFoer, First of all the build quality to me feels quite better than the N73, having a metal casing. Keypad wise, the numeric keypad is superior (more spacious), but the soft keys are more problematic to press (especially trying to press the C). Most people here don't like joysticks, but I find the joystick on the E50 to feel better to the thumb. (The N73 feels like it's wobbling a bit.)

Volume-wise, it's loud, so you won't be repeating "what?" to the other side. Call quality is great. The vibrator is definitely powerful, and will give you a good shake. The keypad lighting isn't all that great during the night, because it's not as crisp and defined.

I wish that the position of the volume rockers be switched with the pen/voice recorder, because as a right hander, I'm more likely to use my thumb to increase/decrease the volume. However, I find it more conveniant to have the pen button on the spine of the phone.

The camera isn't anything special, typical 1.3 MP.

RF is really good, holds on to weak signals in elevators. I have yet to test it in a basement or underground facility. The battery life however for me is about 1.5 days, depending on use. I believe if the battery gets conditioned, it can go up to 2 days. (Standard BL-5C battery)

The black E50 is one of the sexiest phones I've had the pleasure of touching. I used a silver E50 exclusively for 6 months (long time for a phone whore) and enjoyed that experience very much.

it's a pretty good "phone" so far "E" series are pretty much relaible as they're targeted at business users.

I primarily just talk and text on mine, multimedia is great with added apps you load on...i.e DiVX but some may not like the small screen for such purpose? Didn't bother me porn is porn

When my battery dies, it just dies...no warning battery level goes from full bars to maybe one or two notches and then bam, dies LOL average battery life as posted already anywhere from 1~2 days of regular use.

BT connection with headset, computers are seamless and reliable even with Linux.

Then again, this may all change tomorrow

*note* first time i've heard of the earpiece heating up never had that as yet, i think my longest call was about an hour?

;9083638']Hrmm...my E50 metal black was actually quicker than any S60 phone I've used before (N73, N80, etc). However I did not have a whole lot of progs installed on it though...

@ OP: I really liked my E50 metal black. Only reason I sold it was because playing with an N73 really spoiled me with big displays and as well made me used to phones with a bit of girth (the E50 is quite slim). The E50's display is a bit on the small side (compared to an N73 at least) but the build quality was excellent. Ran all my programs pretty nicely, was quick (for me), felt good in the hand and on my cheek, RF was great, and most importantly, did not creak or squeak like my previous N-series phones. The display is quite sharp and bright as well.
