Bitubo Shock

I have a 749s with the showa rear shock. For some reason it is oxidizing on the threads despite being babied and garaged. This is annoying and cosmetically poor, especially with the rest of the bike being pristine. So I have dedicated myself to buying a new shock. I can get. New Showa for $100 or so but I think I want to upgrade. I was on desmo and saw a great lookin Bitubo rear shock. What do you all thing about this product? Does anyone use one? It is around $1200 if I remember correctly. I also like the fact that it is grey and red.*

Opinions appreciated.*

I ran a Bitubo FXF31 shock and fork cartridges on my GSXR for almost a year before switching out to an Ohlins PRC46 shock and R&T fork. The Bitubos were set up in such a way from the factory as to be very hard on the street, but very controlled at the track, whereas the Ohlins performed equally well at either venue.

One big part of suspension purchase isn't the purchase price or even performance, it is about access to a service centre and a knowledgeable service technician to keep them operating at their prime, and of high resale value. Bitubo had neither in my area so that is why I sold them as soon as a reasonable offer came along.

They are a great alternative to Ohlins, but only if you can get reasonably good technical and set-up support and after sales service close to where you live.

Here are some pics with them installed on my K5 1000 from 2006 (since sold):
