Due to a SERIOUS exploit with Windows and uTorrent, all versions of uTorrent after 1.8.2 (14458) are banned except for the latest, uTorrent 2.0.4 (21586).

bump.
i'm still waiting an answer.

"Due to a SERIOUS exploit with Windows and uTorrent, all versions of uTorrent after 1.8.2 (14458) are banned except for the latest, uTorrent 2.0.4 (21586)."
Your version is between 1.8.2 (14458) and 2.0.4 (21586). That would be a yes in my book, you have to update.

Okay, the DLL exploit is so overblown that it's not even funny. Windows, Linux, and Macs all have the concept of the working directory for the program, windows just happens to check the working directory for dlls before the system directories (which was deprecated by default past Windows XP SP2).

The only way this vulnerability will affect you is if you randomly download a malicious dll file, put a .torrent file in the same directory for some reason, and then open that file. And really, if they weren't being total hypocrites they'd ban EVERY client before 2.0.4, since 1.8.2 and 1.7.7 et al also have this vulnerability. It's just an excuse for them to cull some versions off the whitelist.

For anyone who's convinced the sky is falling, the hotfix for all versions of windows can be found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264107

It might break some of your applications if they rely on this functionality to run, but I'm currently running it on Windows 7 with no noticeable issues.
